It's pretty fucked up that so many in the States believe that in order to be a teacher someone should have to be willing to kill or die to protect other people's kids.
Google "racist teacher USA", and then ask yourself what's more likely: that an armed teacher will heroically stop a school shooting, or that an armed teacher will end up shooting one of their students.
Often when someone's privilege is pointed out, they hear "you're saying I've never had to go through stuff". It's not a contest. We've all gone thru stuff. Acknowledging your privilege means not comparing what you've gone thru, but recognizing what you haven't HAD to go thru.
